FILM:

Introduction to film, intermediate film, advanced film, analysis and production.

DIGITAL MEDIA ARTS:

Design in New Media 1: elements of art, principles of design, line, typography, space, form, color theory.

 

Design in New Media 4: Life after high school (College applications, trade school, careers, military service), scholarships and contests, cost of living analysis, invention/process development, internships, capstone.

Journalism

Students in Yearbook will develop skills in journalistic publication at a beginner level and advance through various terms in yearbook to higher level understanding. Students will conceptualize and produce an annual yearbook from conception to marketing of the final product. Students will be introduced to all aspects of journalism and production including, but not limited to, conceptualization, determination of target audience, copywriting and design and layout, planning, photography, editing the photos, and marketing the final product. Students will understand the essential skills needed to produce an annual yearbook. They will know and master the following essential skills: journalistic writing, editing, revision, journalistic photography and editing, design and layout, team work, brainstorming, small group communication, large group communication, interpersonal communication, leadership, marketing, copyright, ethics, and law.

CoSA

Students in Video Film II will develop skills in video production at a basic level. Students will conceptualize and produce a video from conception to marketing of the final product. Students will be introduced to the history of cinema. Students will be introduced to all aspects of video production including, but not limited to, conceptualization, determination of target audience, scripting and storyboarding, pre production planning, shooting the video, editing the video, and marketing the final product. Students will understand the essential skills needed to produce a video film. They will know and master the following essential skills: writing for storytelling, editing, revision, cinematic photography and film editing, design film productions including lighting and sound, team work, brainstorming, small group communication, large group communication, interpersonal communication, leadership, marketing, copyright, ethics, and law. This is a non-exhaustive list.

Digital Media Arts 

This course emphasizes the elements of art and the integration of those into projects designed for specific strands in the Digital Media Arts Conservatory. Students are challenged to produce art in their strands that communicates the various elements of art and artistic theory and design to develop their aesthetic and skill as artists in their strands. Students will develop their skills through the use of theory and techniques learned in class. Projects include logo design, emulation projects, and original projects in their strand. Students use Adobe Photoshop, Animate, Premier Pro, and Illustrate to create their digital versions of projects first sketched out on paper.  This course is required for all first year CoSA Digital Media Arts students.
